Mystery, She Wrote...
The two make their way to Bloodskull Village and find that it is actually quite cute. Charlie Mayor greets them and takes them to brunch where he explains that the village is cursed, causing its inhabitants' souls to be on the "outside." Marceline wants to blame someone else and ignore the issue and move on while Tree Trunks, the self-proclaimed "loose cannon" of the two, wants to perform an investigation and force the perpetrator to break the curse. As the investigation turns up nothing, Marceline is prepared to go home, not believing to be or wanting herself to be a hero, but Tree Trunks encourages her to stay.
They talk to Charlie Mayor, who tells them that there is a wizard on the edge of town who hates him. They interrogate the wizard, who turns out to be Bad Haircut Wizard. They discover that the only person he cursed was Charlie Mayor, in which he gave him a eternal bad haircut. Back at Bloodskull Village, Tree Trunks has given up on being a hero until Marceline smells demon cooking in the kitchen and goes in to see the cook stirring a pot with Finn's demon sword. He claims he bought it from a yard sale believing it to be a spatula.
Back at the Candy Kingdom, after telling Peppermint Butler what happened, he congratulates the two on a job well done and wishes them luck as Ooo's new heroes; however, they both tell him they have no interest in continuing being heroes. Peppermint Butler then questions Marceline as to when the last time she saw Finn and Jake was. Marceline says that it was "a while ago" and that they may well be dead now.
