Trivia[]

  • The graphic novel "Adventure Time: 2015 Spoooktacular" and the book "Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook" are related to the events of the Stakes miniseries.
  • In the intro, Peppermint Butler's suit is black instead of midnight blue.
  • This special marks the first time that Adventure Time is shown in a miniseries format. In addition two miniseries aired during season 8 titled Islands and Elements.
  • The miniseries has been confirmed to be canon by Jack Pendarvis.[2]
  • Along with the regular Adventure Time crew, several guest artists worked on the miniseries.
  • On Olivia Olson's Instagram, she revealed that the miniseries would air as a part of season 7 during October around Halloween.[3]
    • She also revealed that former storyboard artist Rebecca Sugar briefly returned to help compose a song for the miniseries.
    • The actual air date turned out to be from the 16th to the 19th of November.
  • The miniseries also had a new intro with Olivia Olson singing instead of Pendleton Ward.
    • Masaaki Yuasa's animation studio, Science SARU, animated the new intro for the miniseries.[4]
    • All episodes have been leaked online before the exact air date.
  • The special has several connections to tarot cards. Members of the vampire court, The Fool, The Empress, The Hierophant and The Moon, all have titles which match the names of cards from the Major Arcana and each has some form of their personality that matches the meaning of their respective cards. Furthermore, the Vampire King refers to The Wheel of Fortune and The Chariot, both of which are also trump cards in the Tarot, and he himself is based on the Wheel of Fortune card, which depicts the creatures that make up his design - a man, a lion, an eagle, a snake - and he has a cow as a companion, the last creature shown on the Wheel of Fortune card.
  • The Stakes miniseries shows some similarities to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, such as the usage of tarot cards. In Stakes the enemies are named after tarot cards, however in JJBA those are the names of Stands. Another similarity is the return of enemies from the past (which are in both cases vampires), those being Vampire King for Adventure Time and Dio Brando for JJBA.
