Mushroom War[]
Adventure Time is a post-apocalyptic setting. This was confirmed by Pendleton Ward during Season 1. Jake mentions the War by name in 'Video Makers '.
The Mushroom War probably resulted in a nuclear exchange. The 'Mushroom' refers to the cloud created by an atomic blast. In the image, the Lich is seen emerging from a Mushroom Cloud. Unlike real-world
nuclear weapons, the mushroom cloud is green, and it seems to be surrounded by ghostly faces.
My theory is that the
Mushroom Bomb was mixed with magic to create the ultimate weapon. But why? It is possible that the faction which dropped the bomb were trying to create the Lich . This would mean that the opposing team would lose almost certainly, since the creature which became the Lich was filled with a desire to destroy all life.
