A knife storm appears in the episode "Rainy Day Daydream." It is similar to a normal storm, but it rains knives instead of water. It is apparently a rare occurrence, as Finn was amazed since he claimed to never have seen one before, (though Jake already knew what it was). Finn calls the Knife Storm "beautiful" right before Jake pulls him into the Tree Fort for shelter. A knife storm also occurs in the episode "Puhoy" (three years later in-show).
In both occasions the storm was followed by unusual events at the Tree Fort , both somehow connected with the mind. In Rainy Day Daydream , Jake and Finn were bored so whatever they imagined became true. In Puhoy Jake built Finn a pillow fort during a Knife Storm, and since he was troubled with relationship problems, so he had a whole relationship experience inside a mysterious new world.
