The lute suit is given to Finn by Jake in the episode "Go With Me." Finn wears the suit in an attempt to woo Princess Bubblegum as part of Jake's advice on women. Marceline tells Finn to take off the suit because it's ridiculous, but he continues Jake's plan regardless. When Princess Bubblegum thinks the suit is a joke Finn decides that Jake's advice was ineffective and instead listens to Marceline, whose advice also fails. After ultimately giving up on Princess Bubblegum, Finn sings to Marceline while once again wearing the suit.

The Lyre Player also wears a similar looking suit in the episodes "Rainy Day Daydream" and "Blood Under The Skin."
