Makin' your way in the world today, takes everything you've got... Takin' a break from all your worries, sure would help alot... Wouldn't you like to get away... Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name! And they're always glad you came! You wanna be where you can see, the troubles are all the same... You wanna be where everybody knows your name... You wanna go where people know, people all of the same... You wanna go where everybody knows your name...
Mentioned this on the talk in Holly Jolly Secrets Part II but figured this would be worthy discussion here as well. The relation between the two characters is kind of unignorable. Do we know how long the IceKing+Marceline character development was in the works for? The earliest hint I think would've been July 2011 in Memory of a Memory with her bear. Did Ward already know the bear was from Ice King when he wrote this? Was the Marceline connection in planning in December 2011 with the Holly Jolly Secrets revelation of Ice King's past? Or did that not get put together until I Remember You in October 2012, later developed in March 2013's Simon & Marcy?
Marceline is no Becky Botsford, the vampire queen is no WordGirl, but the connection between the pair, their amiable past set adrift by the introduction of insanity to the newly white-haired villains makes one speculate on the influence. +Yc 18:16, February 22, 2014 (UTC)
I believe that the Ice King's page should be split from the Simon section, because it causes too much confusion and ever since the episode Betty, I believe that we learned a lot about Simon and should have the sections that a normal character's page should have. I will be making a vote on the voting page to see what you guys think. Laterz. --Awlsomeabc1 (talk) 12:33, February 26, 2014 (UTC)
- Simon IS the Ice King, just because you have a sort of dementia does not make you two separate people. The Tale of The Ice King
The Tale of The Ice King
The first Ice King or the true Ice King was person who lived in ancient times. Not much is known about him other than that he was married to a princess and that they had a son named Gunter. However, after some unknown chain of events, the Ice King lost his family and was so grief stricken he fell to madness. In this time of madness some of his essence was transferred to his crown where it lied dormant for many years until one day when it was awaked by Simon Petrikov. The moment Simon placed the crown upon his head he was cursed by to suffer just as the first Ice King had suffered. Simon was first made to see the horrors that had befeld the first Ice King, then he was forced to lose the one he loved most in the world. And finally Simons mind was warped and twisted by the crown as he was being turned into the Ice King. Though this new Ice King may not be the same as the first, some remnants of the first Ice King still remain. These remnants can be seen surfacing from time to time such as when the Ice King calls little Marceline and the penguins "Gunter" as they remind him of his son who had died at a young age. This and his constant search for a princess to marry him are both evidence to the first Ice King's presence within the new one.

I believe it is worth mentioning that TIK is very similar in appearence to the king in the 1971 movie "The Point". I came here hoping to find something on that, but I can't find anything, so I thought I'd suggest it.
I have yet to finish the movie, but if anyone is interested in checking out the similarities, you can find it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjfKteUBa_s at around 15 minutes in.
At the end of "Graybles 1000+" it can be seen that in the distant future the Ice King has transformed into a laughing flying beard monster. Should the Ice King's wiki mention this? Jordanlinguist (talk) 09:54, May 31, 2016 (UTC)
- Simon might be of Eastern European origin, due to his last name.
Simon was an antiquarian, not an archaeologist. Please fix.
SERIOUSLY PLEASE IT IS PROTECTED
