Post-Apocalyptic?Edit

So there was this one video (http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1323244554426&ref=mf) and it Pen says that the Land of Ooo is post-apocalyptic same thing here (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdventureTimeWithFinnAndJake) yeah so, what do you think? Can someone add it, because i suck at editing AppleLover12 22:08, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

No prob. Happy to help. SilverCrono (Talk) 00:55, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Trivia Edit

None of the trivia on this page is worth noting, so I am deleting it. Exipotic 22:02, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Again, I am deleting it because it is post- acolyptic, it's not trivia, and when they fall down to earth it looks like it beacuse it is it, and the puddle thing can be mentioned elsewhere. Exipotic 22:04, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

I disagree. Unlike Wikipedia, fan wikis have the freedom to do things like note trivia, even if it is not considered "worth noting" to some people. So I'm OK with trivia about the puddles. (As long as it's true, and not a fake reference to some band.) --Cornprone 23:45, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

mapEdit

where did that map in the template come from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.107.152.172 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~

It came from Fred Seibert's Flickr account. He's the exec producer of the show and posts a lot of artwork. --Cornprone 05:05, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
yeah, the 2 maps, black&white very detailed,& the colorful ones are completely different. the one in black & white is probably more reliable 'cause the holopendant that PB gave finn in "the Other Tarts" showed part of that map. Also 'cause the colorful map shows that the grasslands are separated completely from the ice kingdom by a river & in the episode "Ricardio" there is a snowy border that directly separates the two locations

Paradox! Edit

In The Other Tarts the Desert of Doom shows signs of a once aquatic but now dried sea bed sugjesting that the land of Ooo was created by a drop in global water level after the Mushroom War, when in Ocean of Fear it shows a submerged surface city sugjesting that after the Mushroom War the ice caps melted and and the land of Ooo was created by a rise in global water level. Which one is it? Based on the size of Ooo Id say it was the drop of water level but that still doesnt explain the submerged city. The Eternal Adam 04:16, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

I just figured that the 'submerged surface city' was debris from the nukes in the Great Mushroom War? Then again the tectonic plates may have shifted due to the giant gaping hole in the planet, thus moving the sea bed and the submerged surface city close to each other. felinoel ~ (Talk) 05:33, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
Forgot about the hole, though i dont think it was debris because there were buildings and cars in lines like traffic but the hole kind of changes things. New Paradox! how is there atomsphere and proper gravit on a planet mising a chunk? The Eternal Adam 22:15, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
With the radiation from the Great Mushroom War, magic now exists, and because of this the catchall phrase for when something unexplainable occurs can be used... A wizard did it. felinoel ~ (Talk) 15:19, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
Radiation made magic? whos to say magic wasn't always there? if radiation made magic it would have to have happend overtime and the chunk missing would have killed us pretty fast. I say it awoke magic! The Eternal Adam 23:00, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
I think the makers of Adventure Time said radiation made magic... though I am uncertain of their exact wording so it could have been awoke if they worded it in a way that allows that as a possibility. felinoel ~ (Talk) 15:58, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
I take that back. My bro brought up something interesting, where in certain storys in the bible some devices (like the ark of the covenant or the mana machine) if disrespected or used improperly would cause its victims to lose their hair and their nails to fall out, simtoms of radiation poisoning. so maybee there is some correlation (or at least within fiction) between magic and radiationThe Eternal Adam 03:45, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think the ark uses magic? At least not according to the Bible? But yea, for more on stuff like that watch the Ancient Aliens show, good show. felinoel ~ (Talk) 03:58, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
Haha oh is that where he got it? but i would say yeah the ark uses some sort of supernatural power look what it did to all those nazis in indiana jonesThe Eternal Adam 04:35, July 30, 2011 (UTC)
Well according to that show they say the ark is more likely just technological rather than supernatural, but this is getting a little off topic. felinoel ~ (Talk) 05:08, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

Ooo=North America Edit

My theory is that Ooo used to be North America. The area shown on the map is just the area Finn & Jake know. BNSF1995, Alive since 1995 19:38, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

With all the tectonic plate shifting due to a fifth of the planet being gone plus regular shifting, I am sure at least some of Ooo used to be known as North America, sure. What is your point? felinoel ~ (Talk) 20:01, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
My theory is that Ooo is located somewhere in Asia, more specifically Japan due to the extreme presence of Japanese throughout the series. Also, if you look at Earth in AT canon, where N. America would be is a massive crater. Although the talk pages really aren't the place to post theories and the like. Try the forums! AeriaNoodle (talk) 21:06, September 10, 2013 (UTC)
What? How do you know that that is where North America would be and not Asia?

[CONFIRMED] Land of Ooo is of part of California, North America Season 6 Episode 16 "Joshua and Margaret Investigations" Joshua and Margaret are seen driving north out of a city, then while driving in a forested, mountainous you see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
Seeing how weirdly shaped the Land of Ooo is, I believe the San Andreas Fault line finally gave either naturally in the 1000 years after the Great Mushroom War, or because of the supernatural warheads used.
I believe the "Lich Bomb" couldn't be the only one of it's kind, and perhaps the start of this mess was a secret magical arms race. Perhaps there are more Lich Kings out there? Is it me. or does Ooo's shape look like it's been formed by a magnetic field? I mean, if you put some metal crumb around a magnet, they will form lines just like those islands and peninsulas around the main part. Anyone agrees?Undead Auron24 (talk) 18:05, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Religion Edit

Hypothesis: Glob-Grod-w/e is supposed to be equivalent to God the Father, it is believed that Lincoln is equivalent to Christ, and is it unreasonable to think that the "Cosmic Owl" is equivalent to the Holy Spirit?

Unreasonable, yes. Though I can see it as possible since the Holy Spirit was illustrated as sometimes a bird, though usually a flame. I will ask a formspring staffer.

"OOO" or "000" Edit

personally i think that the land of oo is were the humans were planning on colonizing. Possibly they were looking for a place to colonise and "ooo" is not a set of letters so much as numbers. 96.41.106.199 02:08, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Cause and Effect Edit

In the post apocalyptic section, the comments made about the the episodes "Finn the Human" and "Jake the Dog" seem to claim that the Lich caused or was a part of the Mushroom war. I always thought that Prismo was the one that altered events so Simon would stop the Mushroom bomb thus causing the Lich to never exis. As far as I can tell from the episode, the Mushroom bomb's detonation caused the creation of the Lich, not the other way around. Further evidence is Prismo telling Jake that a wish alters events before and after (The event before being Simon stopping the bomb, and the event after being the creation of the Lich and the land of Ooo). Finn's wish to stop the Lich from existing is paramount to wishing that Simon had stopped the apocalypse.

The article says under "Post-apocalyptic Setting": "In "Finn the Human", it is revealed that if the Lich had never existed, Simon Petrikov of would have stopped the mushroom bomb, causing the land of Ooo to have never been created. This means that the Lich is directly involved with the powers that made Ooo."
The wording implies that the Lich stopped Simon from stopping the bomb. The episode "Finn the Human" seems to imply that Simon chose not to save the Earth in the main universe and Finn's wish changed his decision and the Lich not existing is a direct consequence of this change.

Fire and Ice Kingdom Locations?Edit

I'm not exactly sure how canon the back and white map's layout is. According to the map, the Fire Kingdom is on the other side of Ooo from the Ice Kingdom, whereas in the episode "Thank You" it is shown that the Fire Kingdom borders the Ice Kingdom.

108.27.92.23 00:51, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Why do you say the Ice Kingdom borders the Fire Kingdom?
That doesn't seem likely since the Ice King didn't know about the Fire Princess.

Languages: JapaneseEdit

I watched "Marceline's Closet" two times in a row just now, and I was unable to find Jake speaking Japanese (or anyone speaking in any language other than English) in this episode. Maybe the person that posted it was thinking of another episode, because I think I do remember it in an episode other than "Return to the Nightosphere." Does anyone have an idea of what episode this might be, if there is another Japanese-speaking episode at all?

I don't think that by "Japanese phrase" the contributor meant Jake's mentioning of Buddhist philosophy, just to clarify.

Also, I'm a Japanese major, so I really, REALLY don't think that I just didn't hear it in "Marceline's Closet," but you never know. XD

Does Lumpy Space count as an Ooo location? Edit

Since Lumpy Space is stated to be another dimension entirely. Can we really say it's a location within Ooo?

I guess you can stretch and say it has diplomatic ties with Ooo which is why the Lumpy Space King and Queen were at the Ooo Kingdom gathering in "The Duke"

I don't know. I don't think it's a part of Ooo, but it sure has those political ties like you said. So, there you go.

2- To see whether that information should be on the page the or not. The article says it's a part of Ooo but I was challenging that because it didn't seem right.

That's dictatorship.
In feudalism, the land is ruled by a king. However, there are also noble men with a very large amount of land and money. If a peasant cannot survive on his/her own, than all they have to do is go to such earls, dukes, knights and vassals and ask for help.
Then, the peasants can live on the noble man's property and have food and means of living. To keep it like this, they must work on the property and the land of the noble man. The peasant works for the noble man until the noble man "frees" him and lets him go live with the other peasants in the village.
Such kind of political government was never shown in Adventure Time.
However, maybe I'm mistaken. Could you show me when did goblins serve like that? --180px-Chrell btts Being boring is boring. 250px-2423266537 bb6495420e o 03:24, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
Well the Goblins had a king, King Xergiok and then King Finn.
Also the Nut People have a Dukedom, what else was needed for there to be feudalism besides Kings and Dukes?

Land of Ooo or Ooo?  If Ooo is a continent already, why should there be a qualifier?  If there is a qualifier, Ooo may not be a land. Alysdexia (talk) 03:25, August 18, 2014 (UTC)

I guess it is similar to the United States, sure the United States of America is a part of North America and doesn't need, "of America" in its name, but regardless many people consider it to be a part of the name.
