Finn stuck the wad of Princess Bubblegum's hair into the wall. As Flame Princess fell, he outstretched his arms and caught her.
He brought her in, and Flame Princess came to. She pushed Finn away.
"YOU! What's wrong with me, huh?! Why don't you like me?!!" she yelled.
"I think Jake can explain!" replied Finn.
Jake tried to look innocent, but then gave up trying, as both Finn and FP's glares pierced him.
"OK! I was trying to get you a new love interest, but I mucked it up!" he said finally.
"Why?" asked Finn.
"Because I knew you were sad about Princess Bubblegum, and I wanted to find you a girl your age!" He was on the verge of tears now.
"Wait, Princess Bubblegum?" interrupted FP.
"Yes." replied Jake.
"I heard about the whole incident where she became 13 and then some guy with a lemon for a head came and tried to take the throne, so Bubblegum had to become 18 again, and a human boy was heartbroken. You look human enough. Were you that boy?"
Finn stammered, trying to look for the answer.
"WELL!" she yelled. Finn recoiled and fell to the ground.
"Oops," she said, "Sorry. Bad habit. I really need help." And she buried her face in her hands. "What is wrong with me? I don't want to, or mean to, get angry, but I just do! When will I change? *sniff* When will I freakin' change?" She was starting to face the truth: she had anger management issues.
Finn stayed respectably silent, and gave her some space. Jake had gone out of the room, and had fled to Lady Rainicorn's house.
Finn couldn't stand it anymore. He sighed and said "I'm just a hero, who may not know much, but I know what you're going through."
"Really?" she asked.
"Really." he replied. "You see, after the whole Lemongrab affair, I didn't know what to do. I felt like crawling into a hole and letting The Lich take my soul. But, then again, I wouldn't know what happened to him after I slayed him with a sweater PB made for me and then exorcised him from her, and that led to the Lemongrab ordeal."
"Wait, just...so you're this 'Finn the Human' I've heard so much about? You slayed The Lich, saved the Candy Kingdom on numerous occasions from the Ice King and other external threats, and became King of the Goblins, but used a stand-in to technically keep the position." Her eyes bugged out in awe.
"Uhh, yeah, that was me." he blushed. "Look, I'm sorry about Jake's behavior. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. I think he just stretched his stomach to look like me. Should you not believe me, then my life will be like a fart, and you may strike me down in flames."
Flame Princess started to see reason, and didn't want to be the cause of a feud between this boy and the dog who caused it.
"For all it's worth, I'm very, very sorry." said Finn, eyes closed, ready to die.
"No, I'm sorry." she replied "I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. That dog of yours may have started it, but I made it worse. You did nothing to make it worse. In fact, I believe I made it better. But I understand if you can't forgive me for almost killing you. I can see reason now. Everything is coming into focus for me now. For the first time in my life, I feel at peace, not homocidal and blind to other people's well-being, and not caring how much gold in damage I cause. I truly am sorry."
Finn stood in silence. The girl who had tried to kill him over a misunderstanding was now trying to make peace.
"Flame Princess-" Finn started, but was cut off by Flame Princess.
"Please, just call me FP." she said.
"FP, I accept your apology." he replied.
"Thank you." She said, "I just don't know what my father will say. I hate him so much, I could just kill him! I think he's the reason behind my anger. He always coops me up in a giant lantern, making me wait for a suitor. I'm sick of it all! What should I do?"
"Kill him, and take his place as ruler of the Fire Kingdom." Said Finn.
"Why me?" She asked.
"Then I'll slay him. For you, FP." he replied.
"I...I...I..." FP couldn't take it anymore. She glomped Finn. Finn moved to hug her, but then...
"YOW!!!" he shouted, "MY ARMS ARE ABLAZE!"
"OH JEEZ!" shouted FP, "I'M SO SORRY!"
Finn went outside and had the rain douse his flames.
"I think now, I should do something." Said FP after Finn came back inside.
"What?" Asked Finn.
Before he knew it, FP had disappeared in a flash of light. A strange noise followed.
Finally, the light died down. There was FP, more human-like than before. Her skin and hair were still orange, and her dress was the same, but now her hair wasn't on fire, and her eyes no longer looked like they had an aura of anger, but calmness.
"What..."
"Ah yes. Allow me to explain. When a Fire Person no longer desires to be on fire, they can regenerate. However, the process is undo-able, so I'm stuck like this forever. I can still use fire powers, but I can't turn into that monsterous form. I also feel...calm."
Finn had a look of understanding on his face. With that, FP glomped him again. This time, no fire.
"I think...I'm over PB now." Said Finn.
"Good." Replied FP.
