As you may or may not know, yesterday I annonced in Part 2 of my 5/20 edit of The Suitor Theories and Expectations my intentions to do a blog regarding PB's sexuality, but I plan to wait till after Season 5 ends (also it will be appoarched in a mature matter, so I want mature comments when it gets posted).
That doesn't mean I won't be posting other blogs along the way, and this is an example of one of those blogs.
Okay, before Adventure Time became a massively successful cartoon on Cartoon Network, it was a short on Nicktoon's Random Cartoons. It was a wonderfully weird and creative short that was fun to watch. So of course, after the success of the short both when it was leaked online and when it premiered on Nicktoons, the idea to pitch it as a show came along (BTW here's the original pitch: http://www.scribd.com/doc/3122798/Adventure-Time-series-presentation). The show was pitched twice to Nickelodeon executives, but wasn't approved either time because they thought the show was "too weird". I know, the same network that approved Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Mordern Life, Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly Oddparents thought Adventure Time was "too weird". After pitches to Nickelodeon failed, the show was pitched to Cartoon Network, at first they weren't convinced it would work as a show, but then after seeing a storyboard of an 11 minute episode that used the original short's conventions, they picked up the series.
Now that you know the background story, here's my question for you all: What if Nickelodeon actually picked up Adventure Time?
Would it have the same success it has now, or would it have ended by now?
Would it have a boarder marketing appeal (considering Cartoon Network relatively limited marketing compared to Nick, I would think yes)
Would it have repeats everyday on time slots that are usually used for Spongebob?
Would you already have seen Adventure Time character costumes at theme parks?
What about the show itself? Would it still be awesome or not awesome?
What would have changed from the show if it was on Nick? Whould those changes affect the overall awesomeness of the show?
What would have become of Cartoon Network?
What would have been Regular Show's companion show?
You can answer all these questions also address stuff that wasn't address here in the comments below. I can't wait to hear all the stuff you all think would have happened.
