"Where Everybody Knows Your Name" is a song sung by Simon Petrikov to entertain seven-year-old Marceline in "Simon & Marcy." The song is not an original written by Petrikov, but is part of the theme song from the TV series Cheers. Cheers is an American sitcom television series that ran for 11 seasons from 1982 to 1993. Simon Petrikov later sings it to help him keep himself under control while using the crown to fight the mutants.

Lyrics (as sung by Simon inside the television)

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody knows your name.

Lyrics (sung by Simon as he tries to keep it together)

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't it be nice to get away?
Where everybody knows your name.
Where everybody…

Original Cheers Lyrics

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.
Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;
The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;
Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came…

Trivia

  • This is the first licensed song to appear in the show.
  • Simon's knowledge of the song proves that the Mushroom War could not have began anytime before 1982, when the song was recorded and heard for the first time.
  • Simon singing the song in two different (and both wrong/missing some words) variations may be another result of memory loss caused by the Crown.
